Golden Gate Bridge,  San Francisco, USA.

The area where San Francisco Bay is connected with the Pacific ocean is known as Golden Gate, hence following this name, the bridge also is named the Golden gate bridge. The bridge looks attractive due to the red-orange led oxide coating on the metal structure of the bridge.
This bridge links San Francisco of the south to the Marine county and is situated in the way of US highway route 101. It's one of the proud construction of America.

Visiting the Golden Gate Bridge is a must for visitors to San Francisco; but did you know about all the fun and interesting attractions along the way? Here are our favorite things to do on the way to the Golden Gate Bridge.

Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture
Whether you're walking or biking to the bridge, start here. What was once a point of departure for U.S. Navy sailors is now a creative compound that houses galleries, restaurants, and theater companies. Fort Mason is also the staging ground for many major San Francisco festivals, including Eat Drink SF.

The Wave Organ
Installed in 1986, The Wave Organ is an acoustic, wave-activated sculpture built on the jetty that forms the small boat harbor in the Marina. Constructed of concrete and 25 PVC pipes, positioned at specific heights and depths, the organ creates natural, never-repeated melodies, powered solely by the rise and fall of the tides.

The Palace of Fine Arts
This enormous classical structure is all that remains of the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exhibition, which brought visitors back to San Francisco after the devastation of the 1906 earthquake and fire. Stand beneath its soaring dome or stroll along its neighboring lagoon. Wherever you are, you're guaranteed to get a breathtaking photo that will surely boost your Instagram following.

Crissy Field
Decades ago, the Presidio's Crissy Field was a military airfield. Now, it's part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and Mother Nature has been allowed to reclaim what she lost. This peaceful shoreline is once again alive with birds, fish and countless native plants. Set paths and a boardwalk make it an easy place to explore.

The Walt Disney Family Museum
Located within the Presidio, The Walt Disney Family Museum offers an engaging variety of changing, interactive exhibits about the famed animator and his revolutionary career, appealing to both children and adults.

Presidio Picnic
If you're visiting between mid-March and September, plan to make this trek on a Sunday. That way, you can belly up to the weekly Presidio Picnic, organized by Off the Grid. Food trucks and vendors from all over the city line up along the former military base's Main Parade Ground and serve up everything from lobster rolls to shawarma to ice cream sandwiches.

Andy Goldsworthy's Art
In the mood for a little scavenger hunt? Artist Andy Goldsworthy has created four site-specific sculptural installations within the Presidio, all of them reflective of the natural beauty and inspiration this tremendous park provides to visitors. Can you find them all? (There is a guided tour if you're feeling less adventurous.) Visiting the outdoor art is just one great way to experience the Presidio.

Fort Point
Who knew that one of the oldest buildings in San Francisco sits underneath the Golden Gate Bridge? Fort Point dates to the American Civil War. Visitors can explore its barracks, officers' quarters, and battlements.

=================

Crossing the strait of the Golden Gate from San Francisco's Presidio to the Marin headlands for 1.7 miles is the world-renowned Golden Gate Bridge, easily identified by its International Orange color. Opened in 1937, the bridge was built at a cost of $35 million in principal and $39 million in interest and 11 workers’ lives. The single-suspension span is anchored by twin towers that reach skyward 746 feet, and was once taller than any building in San Francisco. To support the suspended roadway, two cables, each more than 7,000 feet in length and both containing 80,000 miles of wire stretch over the top of the towers and are rooted in concrete anchorages on shore. More than 10 years in planning due to formidable opposition, but only four years in actual construction, the Golden Gate Bridge brought the communities of San Francisco and Marin counties closer together.

General Visitor Info

Pedestrians including wheelchair users and bicyclists can go on the sidewalks of the bridge during daylight hours but roller blades, skateboards and roller skates are not permitted. There are vista points on both north and south sides of the bridge with parking lots. For information on sidewalk closures due to construction, visit goldengatebridge.org/bikesbridge/bikes.php.

If you can’t visit the bridge in person, do the virtual bridge walk and don’t forget to check out the view from the top of the south tower. Because of heavy congestion on the bridge, vista points may occasionally be closed to vehicles.

How to Get There

From downtown, take #38 Geary Boulevard to Park Presidio and transfer to #28 northbound to get to the Golden Gate Bridge. If you’re taking Golden Gate Transit from San Francisco, the #10, #70 or #80 lines will take you to the bridge.

For additional information, routes and schedules, please visit the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and Golden Gate Transit sites.

The free PresidiGo Shuttle's downtown route will also take you to the Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center. The shuttle system is a great option to use to explore the Presidio, with free and accessible service seven days a week, and with 40 stops within the national park.

If interested in biking across the bridge, the Presidio offers bike rentals and electric bike share opportunities, plus a recommended bike path through Crissy Field. For more information, visit the Presidio online.
